Maybe this is Arsenal's season. The Gunners completed the most thrilling comeback of the 2022/23 Premier League season, going 2-0 down deep into stoppage time at relegation-threatened Bournemouth and overturning the emerging winners 3-2.
Substitute Reiss Nelson stunned the visiting Cherries with a superb goal in the eighth minute of stoppage time. The three points took Arsenal's lead to five points with 12 games remaining in the season.
The visitors went on to absorb subsequent Arsenal attacks, thanks to a big double save from Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto, and they even threatened to score a second goal. That second goal eventually came off Marcos Senesi's second-half corner kick and at 2-0 down, it looked like Arsenal might be staring at just their fourth defeat of the season.
But Arsenal came back with two goals in eight minutes. First, Thomas party shot home after a rare moment of poor defensive play from Bournemouth. The two options then combined with Reiss Nelson to deliver a cross which Ben White blasted into the goal with the referee confirming the ball had crossed the line.
With 20 minutes remaining, it looked like it was only a matter of time before Arsenal won it, but the Gunners' attacks seemed to fade away in the final minutes. But there was time for one last flashpoint, as the last corner kick of the match bounced out to Nelson, who struck a sweet strike to win the game for the Gunners.
"My eyes lit up," Nelson said postgame. "It's been a few months for me coming back from the [thigh] injury. Everyone knows how hard I've worked in the background. So when the ball went in, it was a great moment for me."
